Traveler Bio

Hi! I'm Philip, and I am from Seattle, Washington, a city in the Pacific Northwest region with lots of beautiful mountains and lakes. I have lived in the region for most of my life and like it very much! After high school, I worked as a software engineer for about a decade, but my passion for environmental issues motivated me to change careers. I decided to earn a bachelor's degree in culture, literature and the arts at the University of Washington. I believe that the role of cultural work, especially literature, and the communities where it is created and shared, is an important factor in sparking the social changes needed to address climate change and other pressing problems facing society. My undergraduate studies followed this path and led me to work on a master's degree in environment, culture and communication at the University of Glasgow in Scotland with the support of a U.S.-U.K. Fulbright grant. I hope that my studies will prepare me both to participate in creative communities and empower others by working as a teacher.

I'm so excited to have you along for this journey!
