Chatting With Fifth-Graders

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

Everyone (including teachers) eats lunch in the cafeteria together during lunch time. Students usually have to eat with other students in their same class. Chae young said that she's especially happy when they serve melon in the cafeteria. Beom jung likes when they serve noodles instead of rice. Jun seo likes school lunches the most when they serve Korean fried chicken or include special items such as cake or juice.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Chae young, Jun seo and Beom jung all said: We speak Korean! "Hello" in Korea is annyeonghasseyo!

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

The most common girls names right now are probably Ga yun, Su min and Hae rin. The most common boys names are probably Ju won, Jae won and Pyeong jun.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

In fifth grade, students take a wide variety of subjects, just like in the U.S. They take all of the same classes with their classmates all day, including math, gym, science, social studies, Korean, English, health, art and music. Chae young and Jun seo's favorite subjects are gym and English. Beom jung's favorite subjects are art and music.

What is your homework like?:

In fifth grade, students usually don't receive that much homework from their teachers. At the most, they may have 20 minutes of work to complete at home.
