¡Qué onda todos! What's up everybody! I hope you are well and enjoying your semester so far. No matter how great it's been, I hope it's about to get better with this virtual trip through Mexico!
To begin, I will tell you a little bit about myself and how I got to where I am right now. My name is Nicole, but I usually go by Nicky. I'm from Houston, Texas, but grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, so I'm used to traveling to visit my family. I'm currently a junior at the University of Texas at Austin studying International Relations and Global Studies, which I think is pretty much the coolest degree there is. I get to take classes about history, language and game theory, which isn't about your typical board games but instead focuses on trying to figure out why countries act the way they act with one another. No matter how hard we try to understand them, though, things in the social sciences very often turn out differently than we think they will.
In Querétaro, Mexico I'm attending el Instituto de Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, or Tec for short. I'm taking classes alongside Mexican students as well as other international students from countries such as France, Germany and Chile.
