The Importance of Trees

How does it use its environment to survive?:

The birch tree is really well adapted to live in a cold climate like that of Omsk. They grow best in temperate climates (climates with temperature changes and four seasons) or subarctic climates (just south of arctic climates, with very cold winters and short summers). Since these are two of the major climates in Russia, the birch tree grows well in most of the country.

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

Luckily, most species of birch are not endangered. Particularly in Russia, where they are so revered, the birch does not have trouble because of deforestation. However, because the birch tree grows best in temperate and subarctic climates, climate change could have a negative effect on these trees in the future.
