Traveler Bio

Hi, all! My name is Miranda Gilgore and I am a recent graduate from Colgate University in upstate New York. While in college, I studied German and environmental geography. This year I am a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in the city of Landau in der Pfalz. Landau is in western Germany, right near the French border.

Growing up (and even now), I loved learning about different cultures and what life was like in the past. My family (mom, dad, and older brother) visited a lot of historic homes and went on vacation to Maine and Canada. It was a dream of mine to be an exchange student one day.

Right after high school, I spent one year in Germany as an exchange student. I lived with a host family and went to school with my host siblings. I loved being in a new place and learning about day-to-day life in Germany.

Eventually, I would like to work in the environmental sustainability field, helping people make more eco-friendly choices every day. As an exchange student and during a semester abroad in college, I found that Germans are already quite good at this!

This year I'll be a teaching assistant in English classes at a German Realschule. I enjoy working with students, so I am excited about this opportunity! Another aspect that I am very much looking forward to is learning about the culture and history of the area I will be in. It will be fun to share this with you all as well!

Bis bald! See you soon!
