Hello everybody! Buenas dias (Good day). My name is Miranda, and I am a research student living in San José, the capital city of Costa Rica, with my dog Billy Bonez. As a research student I am kind of like you all, but instead of going to school every day I get to go to the offices of the Museo Nacional and work with the research collections housed there. Before I tell you all about my job here, I am going to tell you all about myself and what makes me, me!

I am a 23-year-old girl from a small town in North Carolina, close to the city of Charlotte. Growing up, I lived maybe a mile from the Charlotte Motor Speedway, so a lot of my childhood was spent around NASCAR-themed events and avoiding the track during any major event. Considering this class is in Kentucky, a few of you might actually know of the area I grew up in and maybe have even visited for a race or two! I have lived in North Carolina for the majority of my life but decided to branch out a bit for college and ended up trading the Blue Ridge for the Great Smoky Mountains! I spent five years in Knoxville working on a dual degree in anthropology and Hispanic studies from the University of Tennessee. GO VOLS!
