Greetings from India!

My name is Micah. You can usually find me in Arizona, but right now I am studying abroad in a city on the other side of the world, called BengaluruWhy Bengaluru? Let me tell you!

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona, a city that is part of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. If any of you have ever been to Phoenix during the summer, you would know that it gets extremely hot!

In elementary and high school, most of my classes focused on the history of the United States, but did not teach me very much about other countries. When I was accepted into Arizona State University, I started to take courses that focused more on other parts of the world. I was amazed to discover that most of the world's people live in countries that I knew very little about. Arizona started to feel a lot smaller! I decided to study abroad because I wanted to learn about the different cultures where all these other people come from and how life is for them.

When I was choosing where to study abroad, India stood out to me because of how culturally diverse it is. For example, the people here in Bengaluru speak many different languages depending on where they are originally from in India. Imagine if you took a road trip to a different part of the United States and most of the people there spoke a different language than you.
