Hola From Spain!

I hope to experience as many new countries as I can, while also experiencing the different, unique parts of countries. Just like the United States has many different states that are all unique, other countries have different regions that all have something special to experience.

This year I am living in Ourense, Galicia, Spain and I am working in a high school as an English teacher. I believe it is important to learn another language so that we can talk with more people and experience more of the world. Therefore, it is so great to work with students in Spain to help them with their English as they help me with my Spanish. I love seeing the cultural exchange in the classroom; we are always learning something from each other.

While I had been to Spain before, this is my first time in the northern Spanish region of Galicia. It has been fun to learn about some of the unique aspects of Galicia that are different from the rest of Spain. Many aspects of Galician culture have Celtic roots that originated in the British Isles. For example, while Flamenco dance and music are considered very Spanish, in Galician you will not find this, although it is very common to hear bagpipes.

Do you like to travel, too? If you could go anywhere in the entire world, where would you go?
