Traditional Japanese Folklore Namahage

Another way they are connected to its environment is the namahage wear mino (straw capes). They are a traditional Japanese garment, basically a raincoat--rice straw repels water. As a bonus, some of the straw falls off during the performances and it is considered good luck to pick one up from the floor and keep it. The good luck doesn't work if it is taken from the straw cape, though.
