Hello!   你好!Ni hao

My name is Leon and I am currently in my last year of college studying computer science and Chinese. I am spending my last year abroad here in Nanjing, China! My family includes my mom, dad and sister, who will be graduating from high school this year. I will be graduating once I finish my program around December. As for my background, I was originally born in Zhongshan, China, which is a small town in the southern province of Guangdong, China. Although ethnically I am Chinese, my family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii when I was just two years old. Culturally, I grew up American. Having two cultural identities is a big part of why I am studying abroad right now.

Having lived in Hawaii on the island of Oahu for most of my life, I would say I am pretty fortunate to be able to take in beautiful scenery every day, from the lush mountains to the crystal clear water of the beaches. The people in Hawaii vary a lot, ranging from locals to tourists to military personnel. That is probably why the city of Honolulu is nicknamed “The Melting Pot!” Not only did I grow up with Chinese and American cultures, but my cultural identity included native Hawaiian, Japanese, Korean and more.
