Hi kids! So this is going to be a kind of sad post because it is my LAST one. Over the last ten weeks, connecting with all of you has been great because it helped me learn so much more about the Netherlands and the place where I'm living. I have about three more weeks here, and then I will be moving back home, first to Peoria, IL, where my parents live and then back to Chicago, IL. In August, I will be starting medical school.
Before moving to the Netherlands, I was told that living abroad would be a life-changing experience, and it really has been. Living alone has taught me so much about myself. I've visited so many cities and learned so much about history. The United States is actually a really young country (from 1776 to be exact), but the history in Europe dates back to early in the 1400s. This means that there is so much for me to learn about. I've made sure to visit all of the historical sights in Maastricht and learn as much as I can.
This past weekend, I was lucky enough to go on a small trip with a friend to Amsterdam. Amsterdam is one of the most popular cities in the Netherlands and could not be more different from Maastricht where I live. Amsterdam is so busy, and there are people everywhere. My trip was amazing, but all it did was remind me of how much I love living in Maastricht.
