Foon Ying (Welcome)! My name is Kachun (梁嘉駿 in Chinese), and I am a college junior studying psychology and art history at Stony Brook University. However, I am currently spending the next four to five months studying abroad at the City University of Hong Kong in a neighborhood called Kowloon Tong.

Coming back to Hong Kong has always been a dream of mine. I was actually born in the city, but my parents immigrated (a word used to describe people moving from one country to another country) when I was only two years old. In fact, I spent most of my life growing up in Forest Hills, New York and I have always seen myself as more Asian- or Chinese-American than simply just Chinese.

Back at my home university, I am a student leader in one of the Asian cultural organizations on campus. One of the things I love doing is teaching others and raising awareness regarding Asian culture and Asian-American issues. While in Hong Kong I am hoping to take part in volunteer groups that work with local communities. I really hope to learn more about the differences between being Asian-American and being Asian in Asia.
