We have spent our summer in Trinidad. We are in a bay called Chaguaramas (pronounced SHAG-AH-RA-mas), near Port of Spain. There are a lot of other boats here, including many we know. We met several of them while we were traveling south, and it's nice to see friends here.

We are able to relax a bit, now. We have been in a hurry to get here. We needed to be here by July 1st, because that is the beginning of the hurricane season. There have been many storms this summer, but they are just getting started when they pass by here, so they don't cause us any problems.

We stayed in a marina for three weeks. It's very nice, with a swimming pool, laundry machines, showers, and an air-conditioned room where we can go to get Internet access. There is security here to keep our boat safe, and that's a relief for us. Trinidad has a problem with crime, so you have to be very careful.

When we are in a marina (instead of anchored in a bay) it's easy to step on and off the boat. We don't have to climb into the dinghy to go ashore.
