How We Travel

|
On the foredeck, there are two big metal poles. One is called the spinnaker pole and the other is called the whisker pole. We use these poles sometimes used to hold the sails out to the side of Aldebaran, so that we can catch more wind.
The aft cabin is where two of the crew members sleep. Our big ship's batteries are underneath the bunks in the aft cabin. These batteries weigh so much that we can barely lift them! They are very important because they keep all of the electronic devices up and running. Without the batteries, we couldn't turn on lights or use electronic devices, such as computers.
There is a lot of storage space underneath the bunks, too. We use this space to keep all sorts of things, from extra sails to garden hoses.
From the aft cabin, you can hear people walking around in the cockpit because it is right underneath it! There are little windows in the aft cabin that we can open. When they are open, we can talk to the people in the cockpit, and even pass things through to them, such as food and tools.
