I have a brother and a sister but I've always felt more like an only child. This is because my brother and sister are both more than 13 years older than me! When I was in elementary school, I thought it made me cool to have siblings who were in their 20s.

My Dad worked in advertising. He was the guy who made the "Like a Rock" commercials for Chevy Trucks. I thought this was pretty cool, too. Sometimes other kids pretended they didn't like the commercials just to make me mad. Have you ever had someone do something just to make you mad or embarrassed? It doesn't feel very good!

One day I realized that as cool as my Dad's job and my siblings were, it would be even better to be known for something that I did all on my own. The problem was, I kept on finding myself doing the same things my brother and sister had done. I played soccer just like my brother, and I sang in the choir just like my sister.
