How We Travel

I had one hour before I had to get on my next flight to Yaoundé. My second flight was kind of like the first one except for two things. First, I had the tortellini pasta instead of the chicken and it was delicious. Second, it was raining in Cameroon when the plane arriving. I don't know if you know this but plane rides are much bumpier when it is raining. It makes my stomach a little uneasy. Luckily that did not last long, and the second, eight-hour flight, finally landed in Yaoundé.

Once we exited the plane, there was a man named Adamu who came to show me how to get to the city. We rode in a taxi cab for nearly an hour. Taxis in Yaoundé are yellow like many of the ones in Chicago and New York City. They are not the same size though. They are smaller and they drive really fast! I think my taxi driver would be a good race car driver. He drove really close to people crossing or walking in the street without blinking an eye. The ride was kind of scary for me. Still, I was happy to see the city. I asked the taxi driver, Adamu, many questions about Cameroon and Yaoundé while we drove through the busy streets to my new home.

Now that I am living in Cameroon I will be traveling by train, bus and taxi. Hopefully I will do some hiking outside of the cities as well. I think that might be more my speed!
