The Offshore New Harbor Project is now complete! We have recorded nearly 48 kilometers of seismic data.

We returned back to McMurdo Station from our field camp earlier this week. We have unpacked all of our camp materials and equipment.

Local Time: 2:55 PM

How far did we travel this week? About 70 kilometers, or 45 miles.

How far have we traveled on our journey so far? Round trip from McMurdo Station to our field camp was about 140 kilometers, or 90 miles.

How did we get around this week? We used snowmobiles, the Piston Bully, the Challenger tractor, and helicopters.

What was the most interesting place we visited this week? Earlier this week, we took two field trips by helicopter to Friis Hills and Victoria Valley in the Dry Valleys of the Transantarctic Mountains.

At Friis Hills, we saw fossilized leaves. We also saw moss that was 20 million years old. At the Victoria Valley stop, there was a frozen lake with lots of algae just under the ice.
