While I am in Antarctica, I will do many educational projects. I will use the Internet and satellites to do videoconferences with classrooms around the world. I will teach lessons about the science we are doing in Antarctica. I am excited to share what I learn with you.

On our trip to Antarctica, we will use a special machine. It will shoot sound waves deep into the Earth. The sound waves will bounce off the rock and soil. We will create maps from the sound waves. The maps will show us where to find rock and soil that is 50 million years old.

50 million years ago was a very warm time in Earth history. Scientists think that global warming will make our Earth as warm as it was in the Eocene within the next 100 years. We will study the new cores we find to understand the Eocene better. This will help us predict what the Earth will be like in the future.
