My name is Howie Koss. I am a geology graduate student at Queens College. I will be going on the Offshore New Harbor Project expedition to Antarctica.
I have always been interested in the outdoors. When I was little, I went to a summer camp. We did many water sports at camp. I really enjoyed sailing. Now, I sail all the time on Long Island Sound near the Bronx. I am on a sailing team. We race other boats in races called regattas. I also like to kayak, hike, backpack, and go camping.
Traveling is very important to me. I enjoy going to other places. I like to see the sights. I like to see how people live in other places. When I see how other people live, it helps me to appreciate what I have. It shows me that the world is a much larger place than what I know in my daily life.
