Buna Ziua! Good day!

We’re Jimmy and Kelly! I’ve worked as high school English teacher (Jimmy) and Kelly worked as a pharmacist in a Dallas Hospital. We met each other three years ago on a 200-mile relay race across Texas. We strive to keep up that pace of adventure to this day. Our dream has been to live and work in a new country, learn the language and meet new people from a different culture! I applied to the Fulbright Program, which focuses on diplomacy through education abroad, and I was excited when six months later I found out that had I received the scholarship! We packed up our house, sold our cars and said goodbye to our American friends and family for the year.

This year we moved from Texas to a city called Bucharest, pronounced boo-kah-resht, in Romania. With over two million people, it’s the biggest place we’ve ever lived and one of the biggest cities in Europe. At first, it felt incredibly nerve-wracking. Not knowing the language, how to get around or even how to get groceries, we felt overwhelmed. Eventually through some good Romanian friends, study and trial and error, Bucharest feels like home and we love it here.
