Hello from Germany! My name is Jenny and I live and work as a scientist in Berlin–Germany’s capital city (just like how Washington D.C. is the capital city of the United States). Before I tell you about my life in Berlin, let's learn about Germany and why I am here!

Germany is a country in western Europe which is located across the Atlantic Ocean from the United States. Germany is in the north so the weather is similar to where I am from in Pennsylvania, USA and where you go to school in New York, USA.

Growing up in Pennsylvania, I always enjoyed playing outside with my twin sister, Julia. There were a lot of farms around our house with horses, goats, dogs and cats to visit. I think growing up around animals is why I like biology (the study of plants and animals). I stayed in Pennsylvania and went to Gettysburg College to study biology.

Gettysburg College loves when students study abroad. This means that I got to travel to Australia (which is 10,000 miles away from my house!) and learn about cool animals like kangaroos, koalas and platypuses. In Australia, I also discovered that I really liked traveling. So, I decided to apply for a scholarship to study biology in Germany.

That brings to me to where I am now!
