I first came to Morocco in the summer of 2017. I spent two months in a small Moroccan city learning Arabic. The Fulbright Program is great because you can choose the country to which you want to go. I chose to come back to Morocco because I felt like spending two months was not enough time to get to know the people and culture of this very diverse country. On my return to Morocco in September 2018, I was able to learn more about Morocco's many languages (and difficulties with switching between them!), expat community, education system, cuisine and holidays, especially being here during the month of Ramadan.

It takes a long time to get to know another country, people and culture! You can study a foreign country in a book or take classes in a foreign language, but it is hard to truly experience life in another country if you do not visit. I encourage you all to travel someday! I have had many incredible experiences during my travels, as you have seen through my journals, logbooks, field notes and albums. I believe that we need more Americans to travel abroad and tell others about our country too! Whenever we travel, we are both visitors to another country and ambassadors to our own country. When we travel to other countries, we can also return home and tell others about our journeys.
