How We Travel

We are two teachers traveling for a month through the country of Nepal, home to the world's tallest mountain! We are traveling one of the most common ways of all. We are walking!

We are walking north from the capital city of Kathmandu (CAT-MAN-DU) into the Langtang (LA-NG-TA-NG) National Forest, home to the Snow Leopard and the Red Panda. We will spend two weeks walking up to the second highest lake in the world, Gosikunda (GO-S-I-KOON-DA. If we are quiet, we may see some animals along the way.

Next, we will walk to a village named Shyabru Besi (SHY-BRU-BES-I) where Tonia used to be a schoolteacher. From Shyabru Besi we will walk to a yak cheese factory and to a monastery. Hopefully we will meet a lama, or Buddhist monk, who will teach us about the Tibetan New Year Festival, which will be celebrated during our trip.

Our goal is to walk everywhere we travel in Nepal
