Integrating Into My Community

Location:
Warsaw, Poland
Journal Entry:

Before coming to Poland, I was not sure what my daily life would look like.  I hoped I could find activities I enjoyed. I hoped I wouldn't feel out of place. The past three weeks have been challenging, but very exciting and have served as wonderful learning experiences.

My neighborhood is away from the downtown, or center area, of Warsaw.  It is in a quiet part of town and there are lots of families around with young children.  It is very peaceful and there are many parks to walk around with lots of playgrounds for the kids!

To get to work every day, I take ride a bus for about 45 minutes.  All of the people that live here walk much more regularly than people in the United States.  I end up walking most everywhere, usually totaling several miles every day.

One of the highlights of my walk to the bus station is that I get to walk by all of the grocery stores.  Most people here end up going to the grocery store every day!  In the United States most people probably only go one time per week, so it is interesting to see everyone going daily.  They often buy fresh fruit, vegetables and bread every day.

I have a few favorite stores.
