My Mentor!

At home, I wear loose-fitting pants and a t-shirt. At work, I wear a shirt and dress pants. Sometimes I'll put on a tie. 

What do you like to do in your free time?:

I play with my kids at home when I’m free. I also love to read. I read news articles because I want to know what’s going on in my country and around the world. I also read science articles because I want to learn about current innovations. 

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak local Ugandan languages like Nyankole (spoken in Southwestern Uganda), Luganda (Central Uganda), and Ateso (Eastern Uganda – my hometown). I also speak English and Swahili.

Do you have pets?:

No, I don’t have any pets. 

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

Yes, I travel a lot because of my job. I lived in Boston in the United States for two years for graduate school. I have also visited the Bronx (in New York), Virginia, and Chicago. I have also traveled to Rwanda, Kenya, and India. I love to travel!

 

What do you do for work?:

I am a medical doctor here in Mbarara. I work at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital. I also teach at the medical school at the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). I am a guest lecturer at the University of Virginia. I am a researcher as well.

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

In order to succeed as young students, you should listen to and obey your parents and teachers at school.
