Childhood in Belgium, featuring Tim!

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 8 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. I don't usually go straight home. I will usually walk to my friend's house because he lives a few streets away from the school. We will play video games or watch TV, and then I will go home at 4 p.m.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I just take my bike to school, and it takes me, I don't know, a long time to get there: maybe 20 minutes because I leave at 7:40 a.m. I know the route very well, so my parents don't mind me biking alone.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch at school, and it's always what my mom packs for me. My favorite food is probably fries because I eat them a lot, but I also love the meatballs that my mom makes sometimes.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

At school we mostly speak Dutch, but sometimes we speak English, French or German (especially in language class). In Dutch, you can say Hallo which is "Hello," or Hoi which is "Hi."

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

My friend's name is Jens (pronounced "Yens") and my other friend is Jacob (pronounced "Yacob"). These are common Dutch names, but there are many others.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I study reading, math, and writing, but also in the afternoon we learn all sorts of stuff like biology, history, English and French.
