You've probably already read my little biography on the main page, but let me introduce myself a bit more. Like I mentioned on the other page, I grew up in St. Louis, Michigan. The exact "Middle of the Mitten," as we say, since Michigan is shaped a bit like a mitten. We have a majorly polluted river, seas of farmland and enough windmills to signal aliens at night.

I first caught the "travel bug" during high school when I was lucky enough to travel to Costa Rica with our Spanish Club. When I came home, my family knew that it wasn't the last country I would travel to. I was also an athlete in high school. I played four years of varsity volleyball and softball, plus a year of bowling. People still tell me that it was an honor to watch me play, even though it's been almost five years since I graduated. After high school, I attended Alma College in a town next to St. Louis. It was so close to home that my dad could make cookies and they would still be warm when he delivered them to my roommates and me. I majored in Integrative Physiology and Health Science on the Pre-Occupational Therapy (OT) track. I also minored in Spanish, which opened doors to things I had never dreamed would be possible.

Studying Spanish allowed me to travel to Ecuador three times.
