Why I Decided to Study Abroad!

Location:
Limerick, Ireland
Journal Entry:

Travelling around the world has been a part of my life ever since I was born. A long, long time ago, in 1997, I was born. Some of my earliest memories include the afternoons spent playing in the sand with my sister and mom. At only three years old, I made my first big move, all the way to Arizona. From here I would go on to live in other places such as Germany, New Mexico and Tennessee. By the time I was in fifth grade, I had attended six different schools! Adjusting to new cultures, languages, and making new friends had becaome a customary part of my life.

My family and I finally settled down in Nashville, Tennessee when I was 10 years old. I finally found out what it was like to go to the same school two years in a row, and I no longer had to pack up all of my belongings every single year! However, as I got older, I realized how I had taken my years of world traveling for granted! My family took us to places like England, Switzerland and Scotland, but I was too young to appreciate the cultures and traditions of these places. As a six year old, I would often choose McDonald's over a local restauraunt and was sometimes hesitant to talk to kids my age whose culture and customs were different than mine. I longed to create new memories while abroad. But this time, with the mindset of an informed and eager world traveler.
