Eating My Way Through Ireland!

Introduction:

Whether you're craving a hearty Full Irish breakfast, savory meat and potato dishes, "chips" on a night out or even sweet toffee pudding, Ireland has it all! The food I've enjoyed here has been one of my favorites parts of the experience so far. In this article, I am going to share with you my favorite meal I've had since I've been here!

What food did I try?:

I spent this past weekend in a quaint hostel tucked in the middle of the beautiful Connemara National Park in County Galway! The owners of the hostel provide home cooked meals for their guests, often using ingredients they grow or harvest themselves! After a long hike, we were welcomed back to the hostel with one of the best meals I've ever had. The dinner included sweet potato soup, lentil curry, chili, a steak stew, mashed potatoes and freshly made brown bread. Besides the meat dish, the rest of the food was vegan. That meant it did not include any animal products! I was surprised by how flavorful each dish was!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

After hiking a total of 11 kilometers (almost seven miles) up a mountain that day, I had worked up quite the appetite. So, I was very eager to enjoy a warm, home cooked meal. Before this meal, I had never tried so many vegan dishes before. Each one was full of flavor as well as nutritious vegetables!
