Amy's Journey to Laos

Current Location

Joma Bakery, Luang Prabang, Laos

I have been living in Laos for 8 months now as a volunteer teacher through the U.S. Fulbright Program. I ride my bike everywhere and love learning a new language, cooking and drinking lots of coffee!

This week, I went down to southern Laos with my friend from home, Lily. We rented a car and toured many different waterfalls and visited some beautiful temples!

Three lessons I have learned in Laos, and how I have found a balance between U.S. and Lao pastimes, foods, and other cultural differences.

Field Notes

This week, I am interviewing one of my friends and previous students, Huck. Huck tells us all about growing up in Laos and about going to university here in Luang Prabang!

Most people in Laos like to ride motorbikes. It is convenient on the small streets and better for the environment than cars! However, I ride a bicycle everywhere, and I love it!
