Settling In

Location:
Bangkok
Journal Entry:

Hi! This journal will serve as a quick lesson to those of you who want to travel. BE PREPARED! Hopefully, after reading what I have experienced, you will be encouraged to go on your own journey with the mindset needed to be successful. A week before my flight to Bangkok, I still did not have some of the things I needed to travel. I needed my traveling visa and to pack my bags! There is no way I would be allowed to leave if one of those things was not handled!

One of the travel documents that was still missing was my visa. A visa is like a ticket that allows me to travel. In order to get this ticket, I had to mail some documents to Washington, D.C. I mailed the documents in time, however, I filled them out incorrectly! Washington D.C. sent back my documents one week before my flight and said I had to redo them the correct way. How could I get my visa in one week? Without a visa, I could not enter Bangkok! Sadly, Washington D.C. did not send my visa back before my flight and I had to reschedule it. This created an entirely new problem. To change my flight, I had to pay hundreds of extra dollars. Luckily, I was able to get an open flight. An open flight is when you purchase a flight ticket but do not have a set date to depart. That's great, right? Whenever my visa came in, I could just hop on the next flight! A week later, my visa came, but I realized I still had a problem. My bags were not packed!
