Target Arts in Education Grants

The Target Corporation offers funding for school- and independently-sponsored projects aimed at creating opportunities for students to explore, experience, and create visual art, music, and drama through their communities. Grants are given on a local basis; each Target store is authorized to make Arts in Education Grants within its community. Contact a local Target store for guidelines and applications.

       

MLK Day Grants

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., between 30-40 grants are available from the Points of Light Foundation and the Corporation for National Service in the amounts of $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000 for projects to honor and celebrate MLK.

       

National Youth Service Day Grants

Disney and Youth Service America provide DisneyHand Minnie Grants of $500 each to encourage young people between the ages of 5 and 14 to plan and carry out service projects for National Youth Service Day.

       

Volunteer Grant from CoverGirl

If you are a female teacher and have started a volunteer club for students at your school, or are an active volunteer in another capacity, your organization could be awarded $10,000 from the CoverGirl CG Vibes Program.
 

   
Toyota TAPESTRY Grants

The 2005 Toyota TAPESTRY program will award 50 grants of up to $10,000 each and a minimum of 20 "mini-grants" of $2,500 each to K-12 science teachers with proposals for innovative science projects that can be implemented in their school or school district over a one-year period. Proposals should demonstrate creativity and vision, and model a novel way of presenting science.
   

National Education Association Foundation

The National Education Association Foundation is accepting applications for the Learning & Leadership Grant and the Innovation Grant.  You can apply for $2,000 to participate in a professional development experience, or you and a colleague can submit an application for $5,000 to develop project-based learning for your students.
 

   

Toshiba America Foundation Math and Science Grants

Toshiba America Foundation offers small to moderately sized grants to improve the quality of science and mathematics education in U.S. communities by investing in projects designed by K-12 classroom teachers. Recently funded projects include the implementation of innovative mathematics curricula, materials for the hands-on study of environmental science issues, and equipment for a teacher-designed astronomy curriculum. All K-12 schools and teachers in the United States are eligible to apply.

   

HP Technology for Teaching Grants

HP is offering approximately 75 technology grants worth a total of $5 million (in the forms of cash and HP equipment) to teams of teachers in K-12 public schools.  Preference will be given to low-income schools and to projects that include integration into a math/science curriculum. 

   
3D Action Grants

3D Life Adventures offers grants of up to $500 for creative student-led initiatives or curricula aimed at fostering cultural and/or natural diversity. Projects should be student-conceived and administered, but sponsored and overseen by an adult mentor. Recently funded programs have included environmental education curricula, community improvement projects, and local community partnerships.
   

Technology Equipment from Virtual Ink Corp

Virtual Ink Corp. is giving away one or more Mimios each month.  Mimio XI is a portable device that connects a whiteboard to a PC, electronically recording everything written or drawn.  To be eligible, submit through the website an explanation of how a Mimio would be used to improve the educational setting.  Winners are selected on the criteria of originality and creativity. 

   

Teaching Tolerance Grants

The Teaching Tolerance grant program provides up to $2,000 to K-12 teachers seeking to develop and implement anti-bias projects.  Grants are awarded for activities promoting diversity, peacemaking, community service, and other aspects of tolerance education.  Initiatives should be small-scale and student-focused. 

   

National Cristina Foundation (NCF)

The National Cristina Foundation provides computer technology and solutions to give people with disabilities, students at risk and economically disadvantaged persons the opportunity, through training, to lead more independent and productive lives.
